In an interview with ABC, president of the USA expressed his support for marriage between same sex couples. He is the first US president to openly support homosexual marriage. This is in the background where North Carolina last week became the 30th state to ban gay marriage. I support gay marriage too, on the assumption that marriage is a monogamous, committed relationship. Marriage will coerce gays to be more accountable and socially responsible. I wish that gay marriage would eliminate promiscuity and thus less STD’s. I highly doubt that supporting gay marriage will have an effect on the problems like within the gay community. Even though gays fancy the idea of marriage, most of them do no want it.
I hope Obama’s change of views, change of heart is not about winning political advantages. He used to believe that marriage is only between a man and a woman only.
